Fix: CD, DVD, Blu-ray disc is missing or not recognized by Windows

If you find that your CD or DVD drive is missing or not recognized by Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP or other programs, as a result of which you cannot play or access a CD or DVD, then this fix from Microsoft may help you. 


This issue may have occurred after one of the following situations:
- You upgrade a computer to Windows Vista or install Windows Vista Service Pack 1.
- You install or uninstall CD or DVD recording programs.
- You uninstall Microsoft Digital Image.
You may see one of the following error messages:
  • The device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device (Code 31).
  • A driver for this device was not required, and has been disabled (Code 32 or Code 31)
  • Your registry might be corrupted. (Code 19)
  • Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)
If you are using Windows XP and Windows Vista then apply

If you are using Windows 7, then open the Playing and Burning CDs, DVDs, and Blu-ray 
Discs Troubleshooter from the Control Panel and run it.



If this troubleshooter does not work, try to use the Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter.

Not Responding Permanent Solution

If you use windows then surely you encounter 'Not Responding' problem often. Many programs go not responding due to a number of known and unknown reasons. Well you see a significant amount of time after which windows recovers from Not Responding problem and comes back to its senses.
